Emailing photographs

You can help us a lot if you follow these simple guidelines:

1. Digital photos generally have meaningless file names generated by the camera. If you know how to do it please rename each picture from something like ‘100-134.jpg’ to something meaningful like ‘spring scene.jpg’.
2. If your files are larger than about 2 megabytes each please send them one at a time. Unfortunately JPG files do not seem to reduce in size if you try to convert them to ZIP files.
3. If you can reduce the file size to between one and roughly  two megabytes it will help us. There’s no general way that we know of to do this so if you do not have the right software just send the files one at a time and we’ll do the rest.
4. PLEASE tell us who you are and what caption you want added to your picture(s). If you are sending them as an entry to our competition remember that we need to know which category the photograph is in, a brief description and when it was taken.
